Over the last week you may have noticed crews arriving in Port O’Connor. Cotton Logistics moved in to provide camp management support for the crews working to access the environmental impact of the recent oil spill in Galveston Bay.
Barge Accident Saturday, March 22, a barge, owned by Houston-based Kirby Inland Marine Corp, was traveling the Houston Ship Channel when struck by a ship. The barge was transporting about 924,000 gallons of oil. The unfortunate result was an estimated 168,000 gallons of oil leaking into Galveston Bay. Emergency crews worked to contain the oil, and […]
Several boats participated in the Port O’Connor Chamber of Commerce Lighted Boat Parade, despite the cold temperature. The parade started at Froggies and ended at the judges tent in Caracol. To all of the participants, thank you. This is a wonderful annual event and a great way to kick-off the holiday.
An impressive number of boaters braved the cold weather to deliver toys to Port O’Connor. The gifts were unloaded by volunteers and will be distributed to the Adopt-an-Angel program which provides toys to over 400 at-risk boys and girls ages 2-16 in eleven different counties along the Texas Coast.
